Last week the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) announced the launch of the 2026 SME fund. The fund provides financial support for European and Ukrainian based SMEs to secure design, trade mark, patent and plant variety protection.  Since its introduction in 2021, more than 100,000 SMEs have benefited from it, receiving a total of 67 million Euros.

From 2nd February 2026, eligible SMEs (and these can include self-employed individuals) can apply for grants:

  • IP Scans/Audits - Euros 1620

  • IP Scan Enforcement – Euros 1620

  • Trade Marks & Designs – Euros 700

  • National Patents and Prior Art Searches – Euros 1,000

  • European Patents and Legal Costs – Euros 2,500

  • Community Plant Varieties – Euros 1,500

To find out more about the fund, who is eligible, and how to apply, listen to the EUIPO’s “Protect your ideas. Secure your future with the 2026 SME Fund!”

Good luck!
